This house has been recently erected upon Plan No. 2 at Knoxville, Tenn., by Mr. E. Dean Dow, and was arranged to suit the especial requirements of himself and wife in their declining years. The rooms are ample, the ceilings of good height, stairs and all steps of easy ascent. If it is required to use family room for dining room, the large closet can be made into a pantry and the present pantry into a bath room, and thus be reached from rear hall. Our elevations were made from floor plans No. 1, which are considered quite a complete arrangement. A cozy reading nook is arranged in front end of hall, where the floor is laid in tile in front of fireplace. A neat arch cuts staircase off from main hall. The treatment of rooms on both floors will be found to be both convenient and pleasant. These plans can be enlarged, reduced or changed to front in any direction. Interior: Hall and parlor are finished in oak, dining room in cherry, family or sitting room in ash or gum wood. All other rooms are to be treated to three coats of paint. Plastering, three-coat work, hard finish. Plumbing consists of sink and pump in kitchen, bath tub and bowl, with connections, and gas throughout. Outside Materials: First and second stories clapboarded, belts wainscoted, gables shingled and paneled, roof shingled. Foundation of brick. Outside blinds throughout. Painting, three-coat work.
